Lawn Challenge

July 2017

How do you go about raising over $50M to restore the historical Academic Village? You start by developing a website to report real-time progress towards your goal. The Lawn Alumni Challenge is a website designed to inspire Lawn residents to donate to their individual rooms and to ignite competition among all past Lawnies to raise $53M to restore the iconic Jefferson village.

This project required an extensive front-end development effort as well as engineering the systems to provide the fundraising data from the donation platform used by University. The graphic representation of the Academic Village was created with special attention to unique Pavillion dimensions and their proportion to individual lawn rooms. Rendered from a single JSON file, details like individual lawn room sizes and location of walkways help orient those looking to identify a specific room.

The website relies on asynchronous requests to our central transaction APIs to retrieve up-to-date giving information.
